How to Run a Pole Party

This is how to add your available times for private lessons in Momence

The session goes for 1.5 hrs.

Steps:

Preparation:

1. Check the information in the Momence booking. It will say if the group has dietary requirements. (i.e. non-alcoholic drink option, no cupcakes etc).

2. Purchase cupcakes and champagne/non alcoholic alternatives. Please keep the receipt for both and send an email to info@poledanceacademy.com.au with the receipts attached so we can reimburse you. Please just buy the little mini cupcakes from Coles and inexpensive sparkling wine.

Session Breakdown:

-BEFORE START TIME (15mins before the scheduled time):

Open up the studio. Make sure the studio is tidy.

Find the wine glasses, set the bubbles and cupcakes up.

Turn lights and music on.

-DURING BOOKING:

15mins:

Welcome the party. Introduce yourself. Find out what the occasion is and who the party is for. Offer them the bubbles, cupcakes. All participants need to sign the waiver. A link to the waiver is on the main page of the instructor portal. Or a QR code is stuck to the back of the computer in the reception desk. Get each participant to scan this and fill out.

10mins warm up:

Shorter and less intensive warm up. They need to be warm for safety but remember, this is a party. They are here to have fun and not necessarily have an intense work out.

30mins:

Most likely, the participants are beginners so you will be teaching them beginner moves. However, this is where your observational skills will come in handy. If your party seems competent and you are trained, you may teach them some higher level moves. Use your best judgement as to what moves are safe to teach them.

15mins:

Teach a little routine. Make sure to make it fun and light and too complicated. Get them to do a little performance for each other and get them to film each other.

5mins:

Instructor performance

Last 15mins:

This is your time to start wrapping up. Take their group photos. Offer the last of the cupcakes and drinks. This type of group usually takes a while to leave. Take these last 15 minutes to slowly and politely farewell them. Hand each participant a PDA flyer and encourage them to sign up or come do another class with us.

AFTER THE BOOKING:

1. Please ensure the studio is completely clean and tidy before you leave.

2. Wash up glasses and put them away.

3. Take the bag of garbage out with you.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

-More girls arrive than expected:

Accommodate them and charge the extra participants $45 per person via the eftpos machine. Please send a copy of the receipt to info@poledanceacademy.com.au.

-Less girls arrive than expected and they request a refund

Tell them we don’t do refunds as there is a minimum payment regardless of how many show up. If there’s trouble, you can ask them to send an email setting out what they want and why and tell them the manager will look at it.

-No show

Open the booking in Momence, find the contact number and call them. If there is no answer, please get in touch with your studio manager. If the party is still not around after 20mins, you can start packing up.

-Uncooperative guests (drunk, rude, tired, bored)

There are a number of things you can try:

1. Stay calm and focused on what you are teaching, which won’t allow them to bring everyone else down and their mood to affect others.

2. Another tactic is to give everyone individual attention – announce you’re coming around to see everyone, pump the music and approach each guest. Make conversation about other things ( ie the rest of the night, how they know the hen/bday girl, how you struggled when learning the same move); it helps take the pressure off and re-iterate they are there to have fun and nobody is judging their ability. Additionally, you are making yourself more personable (less instructor) and they should feel less inclined to be rude or judgemental toward you.

3. If someone is being completely unmanageable try to put them in their place as nicely and discreetly as possible, usually if you can with some humour, but this is extremely rare and doesn’t happen often.

4. Take a break! As many as they need. Some of them just want to drink and eat cupcakes. Tell them to sit down and watch for a while.

-Guests have brought alcohol

It must not be consumed on the premises as we do not have a license.

-They want more alcohol

They are allowed two bottles in total for groups over 10 people, and everyone should be over 18. They can have one glass of sparkling each, we can’t serve more than that.

-They won’t leave

Offer to call them a cab.

Perform your cleaning duties in front of them.

Let them know apologetically you have another party arriving in X amount of time.
