WHY DO PEOPLE CRY AFTER POLE CLASS?

It might sound strange to someone outside the pole world… but crying after pole class is actually incredibly common.

And no, it doesn’t always mean something is wrong.

Pole dancing is so much more than learning tricks or choreography. It can unlock emotions people didn’t even realise they were carrying.

For some people, pole becomes the first hour of the week where they finally stop thinking about work, stress, family responsibilities or pressure from the outside world. The body finally relaxes… and emotions catch up.

For others, pole can bring up feelings around:

✨ Confidence

✨ Body image

✨ Femininity

✨ Vulnerability

✨ Strength

✨ Sensuality

✨ Frustration

✨ Pride

✨ Personal growth

Sometimes tears come after finally landing a trick you thought you’d never achieve.

Sometimes they come after seeing yourself in the mirror differently for the first time.

Sometimes they come from feeling safe, supported and accepted in a room full of people cheering you on.

And sometimes… your nervous system simply releases everything you’ve been holding in.

Movement can be incredibly emotional. Music, expression, adrenaline, physical touch with the body, overcoming fear and stepping outside your comfort zone can all trigger emotional release, especially in an environment as empowering and vulnerable as pole dancing.

This is one of the reasons pole becomes so much more than “just fitness” for so many people.

✨It’s community.

✨It’s healing.

✨It’s confidence.

✨It’s expression.

✨It’s strength.

It’s therapy for some people, even when they didn’t expect it to be.

So, if you’ve ever cried after class, know this:

You are absolutely not alone and sometimes those tears mean you’re growing the most.
