TEACHING A ZOOM CLASS
Step1:
Log in to Zoom. Please use the following login details:
USERNAME: info@poledanceacademy.com.au
PW: HannahHamish12
IMPORTANT: When logging in to a new device, it will ask you for a security code, please send Nicole a message or email info@pdaonline.com.au and we will send you the code. After this, it shouldn’t ask you for a code again unless you log in to a new device.
Step 2:
Go to "Meetings" to start the meeting. Choose your class.
Please ensure you admit all students in the waiting room, keep an eye out as some students may login late to the class.
Step 3:
Please record your class on a separate device (Much better quality than Zoom and students aren’t recorded). If this is not possible, please make sure you record your Zoom session, with yourself pinned so students aren’t recorded.
How you pin yourself in Zoom:
-Click on the 3 dots on YOUR video
-Click Pin
Step 4:
Once your class has finished, upload the video recording from the separate device to Vimeo. If for some reason you are unable to upload the recording from the separate device, then download your class recording from Zoom.
How to download the recording from Zoom
-Go to the menu on the left side.
-Click Recordings and Transcripts. This can only be done from a desktop or Laptop
-Click on the 3 dots on the bottom right of the video you want to download
-Click download files
Step 5:
Upload your recording to our Vimeo library straight after class.
Vimeo Log In:
PW: PDAOnlineRocks!2023
Save your class recording in Zoom folder:
Team Library > PDA Online > 2026 Zoom on Demand (OR Tutorials if it is a tutorial instead)
Title your recording as follows:
Name of class, your name and date of class as title.
Eg: 01.01.23 Flex and Stretch with Moni
Description:
Pole Choreo: Please put the name of the song and artists.
Tricks Classes: Names of tricks/combos taught
Stretch: What the focus was for stretch - Eg: Front Splits, Middles, Shoulders/Back.
Please note:
If you are using a different device to record your classes for better quality, skip the download from Zoom and upload your video from your device directly to Vimeo.
Please upload your recordings in a timely manner as we have a lot of students who cannot make the live classes and are regularly doing the recorded classes.
SOUND
Sound is really important so please use he microphones we have in the studios.
TRICKS CLASSES:
Hybrid classes especially, we recommend wearing the bluetooth mini mic. If you're walking around the studio or up the pole cueing and talking about gripping points it’s important that the Online Students can hear you clearly.
POLE CHOREO:
We recommend changing the audio setting in Zoom to Original Audio which does not mute the background noise and students can clearly hear the music they are dancing to.
Please see below on where to find/change/check audio settings in Zoom.
If you are filming on a separate device, link your mini mic to the separate device.
CLASS QUALITY - LIGHTING
When running your class, please ensure you have a clean and tidy environment and background. Try to remove clutter such as unstacked blocks, mats etc. Lighting is one of the most important factors when it comes to running online classes, filming tutorials and creating content for social media reels. If you have a ring light, this can make a huge difference in video quality. It brightens the space and the warm light setting creates flattering, even lighting with minimal shadows. The angle in which you film should show your whole body, especially when doing tricks up the pole. Always film in Landscape.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
What to do if:
Students are booked into your class but they don’t show up live:
- Please film a tutorial of the choreography/ tricks and upload to Vimeo. Often, students can’t make the time and plan to do the class from the On Demand library at a later time.
No one has booked into your class:
- This would mean there will also be no Zoom meeting created. Please film a tutorial of the tricks/choreography and upload to Vimeo in the tutorial folder.
Mac and the inbuilt camera follows you. This is called Centre Stage which is a feature built into your Mac camera.
How to Turn Centre Stage off:
System Settings → Camera → Centre Stage OFF
or Zoom → Video menu → Centre Stage OFF
Do this before filming, movement or dance.
Hybrid Choreography Classes - If you want to share music via Zoom.
Spotify Setup (Optional) - requires 2 separate Spotify Logins:
-Spotify login on Laptop/iPad and phone.
-Spotify Login for use with Studio speaker.
- Use Spotify Web Player on the laptop and share computer audio via Zoom. Control this via your phone using the same Spotify login.
- Use another Spotify app login on the phone for in-studio speakers for students in the class in person.
If Hybrid Class and you’re using spotify on your laptop or iPad for online students and speaker in the studio:
Go to Zoom | Share | Advanced Tab | Computer Audio | Select “Share”
In Spotify on the right hand side you’ll be logged into the Same spotify account on your laptop and your phone.
Select ‘This Web Browser”. That way the Spotify music can be controlled by your phone and play on the web browser.
